And We’re Back (to Pimpletown)

After a week of relaxation and clear skin, I awoke this morning to a huge pus-filled pimple right next to my bottom lip. That has to be one of the worst places to have a zit. Not only does it hurt, but you can’t avoid aggravating the condition. It is, after all, right next to your mouth, so it’s going to get bumped throughout the day.

What’s the cause of this new blemish?

I’m starting to think that maybe there’s something in the air or water in Southern Indiana that causes me to have breakouts. My city does sit in a valley that collects pollen like no one’s business. Maybe it also collects something that causes me to have pimples…

Just writing that makes me feel kind of silly. I’ve never heard of anyone getting pimples because of where they live. It might make more sense if New Albany was really disgusting, but it’s just a fairly normal suburb of a medium-sized city. Yes, the valley collects a lot of pollen, and possibly creates a basin for air pollution, but it’s not like we have thick smoke pouring out of factories all over town. By most accounts, it’s a clean place to live.

Still, what’s the other way to see this situation? Whenever I leave town for an extended period of time, my skin starts to heal. As soon as I come back, bam! a breakout.

If anyone has an explanation that makes sense, I’d love to hear it. For now, I’m left wondering why this seems to happen to me and not everyone else.
