Removing makeup after your Halloween party

There seems to a theme over the past couple days. Yeah, I love Halloween!

Once you get home from your party, you’ll need to get all of the makeup off your face so that it doesn’t clog your pores and cause pimples. Even if you use the best cosmetics, you still need to clean your face thoroughly or it can lead to clogged pores and irritated skin.

When removing makeup, first use some tap water to get all of the upper layer. This step is only important if you have a lot of makeup caked on your face like a clown.

After you have wiped off the majority of the makeup, you’ll need to use a facial cleanser to make sure all of the cosmetics are completely removed from your pores. There are lots of good options for this. In general, you should look for a cleanser that contains a small amount of salicylic acid.

Depending on how much makeup you have on, you might actually need to wash your face once or twice. It’s very important to use a mild cleanser during this process. Products with strong concentrations of salicylic acid  could cause redness and irritation if used too frequently.

Now that your face is clean, apply a non-comedogenic, oil-free moisturizer. This will help ensure that your skin resists any irritation caused by the makeup. There are plenty of moisturizers that are formulated for faces. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a good product that will keep your skin healthy without causing acne.
