Choose a non-comedogenic makeup for your Halloween costume

Most people don’t wear makeup on a daily basis. Few men have experience with makeup and the vast majority of women avoid daily use. When it comes to Halloween, though, we’re all much more likely to  pack on some makeup.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it gives us the chance to let our imaginations run wild. I love using different types of makeup to dress up as a vampire, zombie, or other monster. Since few of us really know that much about makeup, though, we often make poor choices when it comes time to buy our Halloween costumes.

Low quality makeup often causes clogged pores, which quickly lead to pimples. It’s a vicious cycle for many women. They wear makeup for a special meeting, then they find out that the makeup has caused an acne breakout. In response, they continue wearing makeup to cover their pimples, which leads to more pimples. And so on and so on.

How can you avoid low quality makeup that will cause pimples? It’s not all about price. It’s about the ingredients. Look for products that don’t contain any oil. They’re often categorized as non-comedogenic, which just means that they don’t cause pimples. You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Just make sure that they contain safe ingredients that won’t irritate your skin or clog your pores. Chances are that the super-cheap makeup sold in the costume aisle at Wal-Mart isn’t going to do the trick. Costume stores, however, should have a wider selection that helps you choose products that won’t hurt your skin.
